Careers
Grand
Poobah, an Executive Manufacturing Plant Manager
I need help.
I need a Grand Poobah, an Executive Manufacturing Plant Manager
Right now
I need a manufacturing executive, a plant manager. Choose your label,
but you are the director of plant operations. You are the Grand
Poobah, you work from a P&L, you report to our Vice President.
Look at
the Building
I'll make
it simple. Stand outside on the sidewalk, now look at the building.
Inside work up to 300 people, about 12 middle managers, there is
an expense budget, maintenance, inventory, loading docks, and warehouse.
It's a huge machine, - it's your new job. Everything in that building
is your responsibility. It's a serious job.
Our client?
A prestigious hundred year old Vancouver manufacturing company that
knows what it's doing. When I tell you the name, you'll agree. A
brand to die for.
YOUR LIFE
This job is
not new to you, it's similar to what you're doing now but you've
outgrown your old position. You have no problem getting your head
around this larger assignment. Maybe you've owned your own company,
I don't know. But you have managed a lot of people for extended
periods of time, under sophisticated conditions. I won't submit
you if your resume isn't strong.
YOUR EQ
and BUZZ Q
In person,
before people meet you they think you're older than you are. You
have patience about you, a people sense, wisdom. You're very calculating,
smart. You think things through. When they meet you they're amazed
at your personal energy, and you're still in mid career. You've
achieved a lot for your age.
You're a thinker,
almost an intellectual, you read. You know you can't bull doze your
way through this employee mass in todays sophisticated manufacturing
environment. You are fully buzzword compliant. You will out think
me when it comes to lean, ISO, logistics, supply chain chatter,
waste, quality, sigma, maintenance, you name it. You've been to
the conventions, taken the courses. You have a business degree.
Please know your stuff.
IT'S NOT
THE INDUSTRY SILLY
The industry?
I'd rather not say because we get swamped by everyone "in that
industry." Most are too junior trying to bootstrap their way
up with their industry knowledge. At 300 people, it's no longer
about industry; it's about managing people and about manufacturing.
THE MONEY
IS SERIOUS
The wage here
is budgeted at $105,000. I am prepared to go the client and negotiate
for more if you are the right person. We've been looking, we can't
find, so the gloves are off. I hope you're earning close to $100k
now. Make this move to build your career. This is a plum position.
- Benefits,
health, dental, etc. it's all there.
- If you're
from out of town, moving expenses will be considered. This job is
big enough to move the right person to BC.
HORSESHOES
If you get
this position you'll be the luckiest SOB alive because nobody gets
into this company easy. On the other hand, they may be very lucky
finding you. I hope it works both ways.
As you read
this ad you can sense some frustration in my tone but you get it
right? I'm looking a different, heads-up, awake, no nonsense thinking
person. If that's you, we'll get along fine. Please call me, or
send a resume, to
