Eccentric Lower Mainland based cabinet manufacturing co has an immediate opening for an earthy Junior HR Expert, a payroll administrator, a new hire orienteer, a mature & thoughtful company ‘know it all’ who’s versatile by nature & who’s idea of sincere doesn’t involve Kleenex. Self guided, perhaps wears Berkinstocks? Someone who thinks employee volley ball days and lunch room donuts are the best thing since Oprah.

We’re looking for the real thing: an in the trenches ‘do what’s right and do what’s next’ type, someone who has our employees best interests at heart come hell or high water.

Sick days exhausted, sly excuses for not showing up. T4’s, time sheet reviews, payroll administered and pension plans modified. Providing support to our executives, the interviewer for front line positions. You resolve employee issues, quote policy like scripture and shadow our managers taking people issues off their giant plates.

Your are the calm voice that explains why a pay cheque is an apparent 10 hours short, why Monday is a holiday, raises are quarterly and dogs aren’t allowed in the building. We’re looking for someone with a soul, someone with a gut feeling of right and wrong. Someone who derives sincere satisfaction in seeing our people looked after and their faces each time they interrupt with just one more question.

OUR GREAT CANDIDATE WOULD:

LINE HIRING + EMPLOYEE ISSUES

  • Setup & conduct line level interviews. Babysit the hiring process as if it were your first born.
  • Prepare initial offer, paperwork once hired, conduct new employee orientations.
  • Resolve employee issues. (Typically a little more serious than ‘Susan took my pen’.)
  • Interpret company policies & procedures, be comfortable reading our riot act.

ADMIN & SUPPORT

  • Be attentive and intuitive in clearing executives and managers of people issues and support tasks
  • Act as a second set of hands to all executives.

PAYROLL

  1. Complete our semi-monthly payroll through ADP software.
  2. Take from start to finish our monthly reconciliation’s and journal entries for all payroll related accounts.
  3. Ensure that monthly and year-end regulatory filings are completed on a timely basis (EI, CPP, EHT, T4’s, T4A’s, WSIB, etc).
  4. Charismatically & with genuine interest respond to all employee inquiries regarding payroll and payroll expenses.
  5. Prepare and complete Pension Adjustment Reversals and filings.
  6. Calculate taxable benefits and Pension Adjustment. Ensure that payroll legislative
    Updates are applied.
  7. Work with our finance department, assisting in analyzing payroll expenses and headcount variances.
  8. Administer group benefits; prepare monthly Employee Savings Plan and Pension Plan schedules and remittances.
  9. Prepare and maintain orientation packages and related material.
  10. Administer the employee attendance process including vacation and sick leave entitlement.

EARTHY HR EXPERT REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be mature and self motivated, think deadlines are exciting and want the rest of us to agree.
  • Have a good working knowledge of ADP and Oracle systems coupled with previous payroll related experience.
  • Have completed the above mentioned tasks or those similar to in a previous role.
  • A post secondary education in HR or payroll would be helpful, but is by no means necessary.
  • Someone who wants to root themselves in a hearty & fun environment today, tomorrow, and many years to come.
